Getting Started
This element contains an animated SWAY document and short videos about the main learning platforms that we will be using.
SWAY Animated Document: Getting Started
We have used SWAY (a feature of Microsoft Office 365) to create the following animated document. As you scroll through this animated document, you will see it contains text, images and optional links to further information.
For some devices, it may be better to view the following Getting Started animated document in full screen by pressing the icon with four arrows. You should find this in the top right hand corner of the document below. To exit full screen, press esc (escape) or click on the four arrows icon again.
Alternatively, the 'three dots' icon will allow you to open in a new tab. If you choose to open in a new tab, please return to this page to continue with the next element.
If you experience any difficulties viewing the document due to connectivity issues, please email us and we will send you a PDF version.

ZOOM Video Conference: Community Meet

We use video conferencing for a very specific purpose in our online training events. The asynchronous elements are mainly designed to give information, allowing the synchronous 'video meet' to focus on community, collaboration and interaction based on the content accumulated up until that point.
In preparation for the ZOOM Community Meet:
  • If this is your first time using Zoom on your computer, clicking on the 'joining' link below should open the connection to the meeting in your browser. Please check that you are connecting with both audio and video.  You may need to allow time to resolve any technical issues prior to the start of the meeting. For this reason, we are opening the meeting 10 minutes prior to the official start time.
  • If you have a smartphone or tablet, it will be useful to have this second device available for the ZOOM meeting. Alternatively, you can use a second window in your browser. We will explain this in detail during the meeting.
  • We will open the meeting 10 minutes before the start time. This is optional for those who want to practice the ZOOM controls in a relaxed way. It might be helpful for those who have not used ZOOM before.
  • If you have a colleague who is also part of this training and you have decided to access ZOOM from the same screen, please let us know as this will impact on our creation of small teams and breakout rooms. Our preference would be that you access the Zoom Meeting individually.
  • Choose one item from your house or workplace to bring to the meeting. It should be able to fit into an average sized shoe box. Dimensions: No larger than 30cm x 20 cm x 15cm.

Video Tutorial: Using ZOOM

If this is your first time using ZOOM, you may find this video tutorial useful in terms of how to enter the meeting and the tools that will be available on the screen.

Zoom download and menu options are different for Chromebook Users. Here's a link to the Zoom guide for Chromebooks.
