We are delighted to be working in collaboration with West Dunbartonshire Council.
In partnership with the council, we are looking for key educators/teachers to become part of a bespoke online training package which forms part of a wider, ambitious project.
If you have an interest in interdisciplinary learning, project-based learning and an enthusiasm for online learning, then this training is right for you.

Designing for Project-Based Learning
The online training will consist of a series of linked learning experiences that will support Key Teachers and Educators in designing a mini-project linked to the development of an ambitious council-wide interdisciplinary project and the WDC Virtual Campus.
What is the role of the Key Teacher or Educator?
This role would be ideal for an enthusiastic educator who has a responsibility for or an interest in interdisciplinary learning and technology. The online training will be provided by Single Steps Learning in collaboration with WDC.
Participants will be supported to:
- Participate in all synchronous and asynchronous, collaborative and individual sessions during the online training during October 2020
- Participate in an allocated coaching session in the week beginning 30 November 2020.
- Co-ordinate the development of a mini-project within their own setting. This could be a theme that is already planned which ties into this project or a new ‘stand-alone’ project.
- Co-ordinate the sharing of key materials within their own setting and on Campus@WDC.
- Engage with a variety of online training platforms including Single Steps Learning's Training Website, Padlet, Mentimeter, Video Conferencing - Zoom and Google Meet and Google Drive. (It is not necessary to have previous experience of using these as guidance will be given.)
- Be open to creating an on-going collaborative working group to enable peer support and continued professional dialogue across settings during the project development phase.
When will the training take place?
The training will begin in October 2020.
Each Key Teacher/Educator will become part of a cohort and will receive an invitation to create a login on the Training Website.
They will be unable to switch cohorts during the training process. Each cohort will be limited to 12 places.

How will the training be organised?
The online training elements will be arranged in six sections on the training website. Each section builds upon the one before, so we would ask that participants engage with each element in sequence.
You do not need to have previous knowledge of the online learning platforms, just an enthusiasm to engage with them.
If you have previously participated in our 'in person' training, you will be familiar with our design process and the types of experiences involved during our training events. We want to keep the integrity of 'Designing for Learning' and use the same principles within our online approach.
Section 1: Getting Started |
Section 2: Setting The Scene |
Section 3: Knowing Me, Knowing You |
Section 4: Project-Based Learning |
Section 5: In Reality |
Section 6: D.I.Y. |
Each section will contain an opportunity to reflect individually or with others. Reflection deepens understanding, allows connections to be made and encourages the exploration of different perspectives.
